Accessibility
Maastopalovaroitus.fi aims to meet the WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility requirements. The service largely meets them; the known shortcomings are listed below.
What has been done
- ✓ Every body-text colour is measured at a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against its background.
- ✓ The whole service can be operated from the keyboard, and every page carries a skip link straight to the content.
- ✓ Focus is clearly visible as its own outline on every button and link.
- ✓ The warning level is always stated in words as well, never by colour alone. The map's information is available as text in the region cards and on the region pages.
- ✓ Changing the day is announced to screen readers, and decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology.
- ✓ If the device is set to reduce motion, transition animations are dropped.
- ✓ The layout works from phone to desktop, and the page can be enlarged without losing content.
Known shortcomings
The interactive map cannot be used with a screen reader or a keyboard. The same information is available as a list of region cards beside the map and on each region's own page, so the map is not the only route to it.
The site may carry third-party advertising whose accessibility is outside our control.
How this statement was prepared
This statement was prepared on 12 August 2026 by self-assessment. The service's pages were reviewed against WCAG 2.2 AA both in the browser with the axe-core tool and by keyboard, and the checks were written as automated tests that run on every change.
